"1st Lieutenant Robert Charles Botsford, US Army Air Force, was from Wisconsin. He was a B-26 Pilot in the 322nd Bomber Group and was stationed at Andrews Field in Essex, England and was awarded the Air Medal.
Tragically, he was killed on July 4, 1944 while a passenger on a B-26 that was being ferried from Andrew's Field in Essex to Langford Lodge in Northern Ireland.
The aircraft crashed due to pilot error at Cronk ny Arrey Laa on the west coast of The Isle of Man. 1st Lieutenant Botsford had a distinguished military career as a B-26 Pilot and his service included capturing these historic images."
